CTRF Conducts Strategy Session Print E-mail

The Canadian Turfgrass Research Foundation (CTRF) Board of Directors met in Toronto on January 6th and 7th, 2011 to conduct a strategic planning process, the first for the foundation since its incorporation in 1992.  The focus for the two days of discussion was the development of a newly defined direction for the organization with a focus on national research, communication and fundraising.

A new reality is setting in for superintendents and courses throughout Saskatchewan. Ever increasing regulations are seeing the banning and restricting of various popular turf fungicides that have aided superintendents in maintaining their courses in our harsh conditions. The most recent of which to be added to this list is quintozene, which, for years, has been a popular choice among superintendents in Saskatchewan for fall fungicide applications. With the book closed on quintozene, a new chapter begins for fall application product choices.

STA Fall Wind-up and AGM - Nov. 23, 2010 Print E-mail

The Saskatchewan Turfgrass Association's Fall Wind-up and Annual General Meeting will be held November 23rd at the Saskatoon Golf and Country Club. A seminar presented by Bruce Williams will precede the AGM. A Social will be held November 22nd at Sports on Tap, located in the Saskatoon Exhibition off of Lorne Avenue.

"Looking Into The Crystal Ball - Golf In The Fututre" details where golf has been and where we are going in the upcoming years. Also discussed will be the challenges that face all of us, including increased regulation, water issues, lower budgets but higher expectations, environmental impact, new technologies, changing population trends and interests, etc.

This seminar is eligible for 4 CEC for both the CGSA Master Superintendent and Accredited Golf Superintendents programs.

  • Front 9 will be played at Echo Ridge Golf Course at Fort Qu' Appelle
  • Back 9 and Supper will be at Katepwa Beach Golf Club
  • 10:30 am- Shotgun Start

We are Playing a 4 man Texas Scramble. There will be a cook on hand in the morning at Echo Ridge for anyone wishing to purchase breakfast.
