Wascana Country Club is accepting applications for the position of 2nd Assistant Superintendent.

The pristine par 73 course actually has 20 holes - ensuring there will always be 18 first class holes to play. Located along Wascana Creek, it is carefully landscaped to provide a beautiful, yet secluded area.

The 2nd Assistant Superintendentwill be responsible for assisting with the day to day operations of the Turf Care department and staff; he/she will have hands on operation and maintenance of the irrigation system. The 2nd Assistant Superintendent is required to report any irregularities in course turf quality to the Superintendent or Assistant Golf Course Superintendent.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Reports to the Superintendent and Assistant Superintendent
• Report all irregularities in course turf quality to the Golf Superintendent and Assistant Superintendent
• Assist with applications of fertilizers and chemicals on the golf course
• Repair irrigation system, pipes and irrigation heads as neede
• Grade and prepares soil base, sod and seeds greens, tees and fairway
• Operate heavy equipment and other light equipment in hauling materials and debris as well as snow removal
• Supervise small labor forces for special projects

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Minimum 3 year’s experience on a golf course. Preference will be given to those with previous experience as an irrigation technician and to those who have completed or are enrolled in a turf management program.
• Working knowledge of Toro Osmac and Site Pro water system including basic electricity and hydraulics, plumbing methods and procedures for system repair, troubleshooting and maintenance
• Knowledge of high density poly piperepair and fusing methods
• Knowledge of agronomy, turf grass science and the rules of golf
• Ability to operate light motorized equipment
• Must be able to work safely and ensure co-workers are working safely
• CPR and First Aid certifications are assets
• Must possess a ValidDriver’s License**
• Must possess a valid Provincial Pesticide Applicators License
