Established in 1899, The Royal Regina Golf Club is Saskatchewan’s first and oldest golf club. Our prestigious, semi-private golf club holds the distinction of being one of only six courses in Canada to have received official “Royal” designation.

After an 18-year career with the Royal Regina Golf Club, our Golf Course Superintendent is retiring in 2020. We are searching for a dedicated and hardworking superintendent, with strong agronomic and leadership skills, as well as a passion for providing exceptional golf course conditions in a semi private club setting.     

The Golf Course Superintendent reports to the General Manager and works closely with the Course & Properties Committee to achieve the Club’s goals, vision and mandate. The superintendent is expected to provide quality leadership, with strong attention to detail and to manage his or her department in an inclusive and supportive manner to ensure excellent course conditioning on a daily basis.

Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to the development and the implementation of standards of quality and maintenance for the golf course;
  • Demonstrate leadership and be a dynamic member of the organization;
  • Hire, train, coach, counsel and supervise the maintenance personnel;
  • Prepare, manage and control the golf course operational budget in conjunction with the General Manager;
  • Provide regular and up to date commentary on the golf course conditions, maintenance activities, projects, environmental issues, expenses and labour;
  • Render professional advice, opinions, assistance and services to the General Manager and Course & Properties Committee as required;
  • Oversee the scheduling and allocation of the maintenance personnel and the equipment to accomplish the daily work efficiently;
  • Keeps accurate and complete records on the cost of inventory, the maintenance of equipment, pesticide and fertilizer applications and other practices;
  • Develop an environment that is empowered in the golf culture and that passionately provides a unique and exclusive golf experience for our members and their guests;
  • Maintain good and open communication with the Board of Directors, members, guests and all clients, the management team and all employees.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience as a superintendent or assistant superintendent
  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Turf Science or a 2-year Turf Grass diploma;
  • A highly motivated professional;
  • Possess strong communication abilities both written and verbal;
  • Valid pesticide applicator’s license;
  • Knowledgeable of the game of golf and its rules;
  • Excellent knowledge in finance (administration of budgets);
  • Be current & well versed in agronomy, turf grass and tree management;
  • Strong management and forecasting skills for operational and capital budgets;
  • Experience developing capital equipment replacement plans;
  • Ability to hire, train, lead and performance manage staff to ensure high productivity and excellent results;
  • Extensive knowledge of irrigation systems;
  • Subscribes to sustainable maintenance practices;
  • Ability to source, negotiate and coordinate with outside vendors for course projects and maintenance;
  • Project management experience
