The social will be Tuesday, November 5th at “Sports on Tap” starting at 7:00 pm.

This year we are very fortunate to have one of the most outstanding speakers in our industry. He is a “can’t miss” presenter on many turfgrass topics. An agenda for the 2 days is as follows:

Tuesday, November 5th—7:00 pm - Social Evening at “Sports on Tap” 2606 Lorne Ave, Saskatoon. We supply the food, you buy the drinks. It’s loads of fun.

Wednesday, November 6th—Wind Up and AGM

  • 8:00 am—Registration, continental breakfast
  • 8:30 am—Seminar, Matt Nelson
  • 10:30 am—coffee break
  • 12:30 pm—banquet
  • 1:45 pm—Annual General Meeting
  • 3:00 pm—adjournment

Biography—Matt Nelson

Matt Nelson is co-owner of Majic Valley Bentgrass (a commercial putting green sod farm), international marketing manager for Grigg Brothers Folier Fertilzers, an independent agronomist and golf design consultant, and an executive with Rocky Mountain Golf Services. He has worked in the golf turf industry for 28 years including 12 years as senior agronomist for the USGA Green Section, North West region.

He has delivered more than 275 presentations on various turf and golf related topics internationally and authored more than 150 articles for scientific and trade publications. He has consulted at approximately 1,200 different golf courses across 6 US time zones, Canada, Europe, and New Zealand, and worked at several national championships with the USGA.

Matt has a B.Sc from Willamette University, Salem OR, in Environmental Science and Biology and an M.Sc. From Washington State University, Pullman WA in Crop Science. Mr. Nelson is a member of the USGA Green Section Committee.

About the STA

  • Saskatchewan's Turfgrass Association, founded in 1979, is a non-profit organization. The S.T.A. was organized by a group of Turfgrass Professionals which has grown to include people from Parks, Golf Courses, Sod Growers, Cities and Commercial Companies.
