June 2026

Here we are near the end of June and we are still waiting for summer to happen. The weather continues to be unsettled with below “normal” temperatures and pockets of rain hitting different parts of the province.

Most courses are in great condition with a few still recovering from ice damage over the winter and not the best weather for a speedy recovery.

The STA Summer Field Day at Elmwood in Swift Current was a great event. It was a bit disappointing we only had 35 attendees, but all who were there enjoyed it despite getting rain/lighning –ed out after a few holes of golf. Thank you to Paul “Grover” Grotier for 2 excellent talks and very exciting to see Jordan Rempel’s new maintenance building. It will be a great addition once it is completed. Big thank you’s go out to Elmwood and especially Jordan for hosting this event in his first season there. The food, hospitality and the gift bags were much appreciated.

Our next event is the Don Campbell Research Tournament, Tuesday, August 11 at North Battleford, so be sure to sign up early, as this is always a fun event.

On September 22, the CGSA is hosting the Fall Field Day at the Riverside Country Club, hosted by yours truly. All STA members are eligible to play at the same rate os CGSA members. The entry fee also includes 18 holes at the Legends on September 21. This event is likely to sell out, so don’t miss out as it is only held in Saskatchewan every 10-15 years.

Good luck to everyone as we hopefully begin summer! I hope to see you soon
