March 2025

After a long winter of fluctuating temperatures it looks like spring is starting to arrive. Although we had temperatures from the –40’s to above 0 over the winter, hopefully the snow cover in most of the province kept the temperature at a consistent level, although I have heard some are concerned about potential ice issues mostly in the south of the province. Hopefully that is not the case and everyone has a great start this spring.

The Summer Field Day will be held at the Gordie Howe Bowl in Saskatoon on June 10, with 2 hours of education, an equipment show, followed by golf at Holiday Park, hosted by Marc Robert.

On August 20/21 the Don Campbell Research Tournament will be held at The Legends Golf Club in Warman, hosted by Matt Choquette.

Plans are in the works for the STA Fall Windup which will be held at the Saskatoon Golf & Country Club in November. It is a great opportunity for education and obtaining CEC’s towards your Pesticide Applicators License renewal. Over the past 5 years over 25 points have been available from STA events.

It’s always exciting for spring to arrive and getting outside to prepare our properties for the upcoming season. The next few weeks with thaws and freezes can have a big impact on our early season conditions and I wish everyone a successful start to the year as it helps make everything go smoother.

I’m looking forward to seeing everyone at the Summer Field Day in June.
