Wow! After 3 false starts into spring, summer came in with mid 30 C temps and 40-60 km winds, just in time for a mainline break that shut down our irrigation system. Fortunately we were able to get repairs done and catching back up with watering.

The northern courses finally have opened up with some minimal snow mold damage after nearly 7 months of snow cover. Thank goodness for good control products.

Mark June 18 on your calendar for the Summer Field Day being held at Elmwood with host superintendent Jordan Rempel. Congratulations to Jordan on his new position after many years working at the Chinook Golf Course with Doug Leavins. Speaker details will be forthcoming.

Congratulations also go out to Gord Moore who is the new superintendent at Elkridge. Good luck to both of ya!

The Don Campbell Research Tournament is being held on Tuesday August 11 at North Battleford Golf & Country Club. Long time superintendent Grant Sawchyn is the host. The course is one of the top courses in the province and Grant always has the course in top condition, so be sure not to miss this great event. The Research Tournament is our biggest fundraiser towards Turfgrass Research. The STA contributes approximately $8,500 per year towards research that directly relates to conditions here in the prairies.

After a long winter, it will be great to see everyone at these events. Hope all is going well for everyone, and see you soon!
